Beware of Phishing Emails: Tips to Spot a Phish Phishing attempts, designed to trick you into sharing personal or financial information, are on the rise and becoming more convincing. Recently, FOCUS Broadband was informed of phishing emails designed to look like our monthly billing statements. These emails may contain links or attachments that could compromise your information. Protect yourself with these tips: Don't click on links or open attachments from unknown senders. Hover over links to see where they really lead. If the URL looks suspicious, don't click. Watch for red flags like grammar mistakes, strange formatting, or urgent language such as "Act Now!" Verify the sender. Check to see if you have received emails from the sender before. If you doubt the legitimacy of the email, call the company directly and ask them to verify it. If you receive a phone call that feels like a scam, hang up.
