Sports Nets to Cease at Year’s End
ATMC has been notified that two sports channels will cease operations at the end of this year. NBC Sports Network will shut down
at midnight on December 31st,
and ESPN Classic will cease to operate
on January 1st.
NBC Sports Network has been home to programming from the English Premier League, NASCAR, the USGA and the National Hockey League. Once the network shuts down, much of that content will be available on USA network and NBC-Universal’s new Peacock streaming service. ESPN Classic replayed classic sporting events alongside of documentaries and other historical sports content. The decisions to shut down these networks were out of the control of ATMC.
